Welcome to the 2nd International Symposium

Electricity and Safety in the 21st Century

New Technologies, Applications and Standards

Conference Focus

The industrial use of electricity has always been the driving force for our economic development. This ranges from energy supply to the social networks of modern communication, which would be inconceivable without electric current.

Electric current, however, can also present hazards if it is not applied safely. New technologies are emerging rapidly and are associated with new electrical risks. To ensure that people can work safely with these technologies we need to identify the new risks, develop best practices and prevention measures and implement them.

In this context, electrotechnical standardization makes a crucial contribution towards providing a high level of protection for people and property. This protection level must also be safeguarded for new technologies and applications.

The Symposium addresses topics where science and industry must join forces with standardization to ensure the safe generation, distribution and use of electricity.

Conference Topics

  • Electropathology
  • Arc faults
  • Electric shock
  • Electromobility
  • Functional safety
  • Standardization

Audience

  • Standardization experts
  • OSH specialists
  • Research and science
  • Industry and commerce

Registration

The registration period ended on September 30, 2016. Persons attending the IEC General Meeting may visit BG ETEM, KAN or ISSA Electricity in the Reinvention Laboratory from October, 10 to 12, 2016 to register for the Symposium. Participation is free of charge and subject to the availability of free seats.

IEC 80th General Meeting

The 80th IEC General Meeting is the annual event highlighting international standardization activities in the electrotechnical sector. Like its predecessors, the 80th IEC General Meeting 2016 will host numerous technical meetings designed to drive forward current standardization projects. It is held in various locations around the city of Frankfurt am Main from October 10 to 14, 2016.
