Guided Tour to Neues Grünes Gewölbe - New Green Vault –

The world-famous, former treasure vault of the Prince of Wettin reveals it’s magnificence in the western part of the Royal Palace. In the New Green Vault, there are about 1000 selected masterpieces of the art of the royal workshops in non-glare showcases, wonderful to marvel at in detail. (Among them are the unique showpieces of Dresden’s Court Jeweller, Dinglinger, as well as fascinating jewellery made of gold, silver and precious stones. Inside the Dresden Armory (Rüstkammer) you will see is one of the world's largest collections of ceremonial weapons, armors and historical textiles. The Turkish Chamber (German: Türckische Cammer) is a separate collection within the Dresden Armory that is focused on art from the Ottoman Empire

Guided Tour to Frauenkirche – Church of our Lady –

Unmistakable emblem of the city of Dresden, particular by the dome of the monumental protestant church building; constructed 1726-43 destroyed in the Second World War; reconsecration in 2005

Bus tour to Meissen



Meissen – More than one thousand-year old city; internationally famous for the manufacture of the Meissen porcelain – the first porcelain of Europe – since 1708; birth place of winegrowing in the Saxon region of the river Elbe.
On site you will explore, together with a tour guide that historic old town of Meissen with its cathedral and castle Albrecht, and the visit of the porcelain (china) factory.
Time for sightseeing and lunch is scheduled.

Wednesday June, 2014

Excursion to Saxon Switzerland

              

Saxon Switzerland – Impressive rock landscape right in front of the gates of Dresden with magnificent backdrop for hiking, strolls and climbing tours.

The tour starts with the visit of the fortress Königstein. After the Elbe crossing in Bad Schandau the tour goes on through the world of rock bastion area. Along the way, you can expect the most beautiful panoramic views
of the Saxon Switzerland. The bastion offers a great view of the rugged rocky landscape, the wide Elbe Valley. Time for sightseeing and lunch is scheduled.
The return to Dresden will be with the Saxon Steamship.

Duration: 8 hours

Saxon Steamship Company owns the Oldest and largest paddle steamer of the world. Consisting of nine historical paddle wheel steamers; route leading along the Saxon Switzerland to the Elbland.

Departure with the steamboat: 3:20 p.m
Meeting point: at pier Rathen
Arrival back in Dresden: approx. 6 p.m.

Technical Program (only for conference participants, limited space)

    

Executive tram ride tour to Gläserne Manufaktur Dresden (Volkswagen Transparent Factory) Volkswagen plant completed in 2002 for finishing fabrication of the luxury car „Phaeton“, fascinating combination of technology and design as well as the world of processing and experience, place of many events. Spare capacity was also used to construct Bentley Continental Flying Spur vehicles destined for the European market until 2006, when all work was transferred to Bentley's plant in Crewe, England.
The guided tour includes coffee break.
Afterwards an excursion with test demonstration of the high voltage station at TU Dresden is planned.

Semperoper – Semper Opera



One of the most beautiful opera houses worldwide; built 1838-41 in the style of Italian high-period Renaissance by Gottfried Semper; 1945 nearly completely destroyed; restoration 1977-85; reopening in 1985.
