EMC 2015 - Dresden

welcome reception: TUESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2015
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The Phaeton has been assembled at Volkswagen’s “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” in the center of Dresden since 2001. The idea was to create a new Volkswagen luxury class – handcrafted using the most advanced techniques the car industry can offer, yet at the same time founded on the time honored values of factories with a long-standing tradition. The choice of Dresden as a location was an entirely conscious one: cars have been built in Saxony for no less than one hundred years while Dresden itself is viewed across Europe as a city with extraordinary innovative strength.  At “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” visitors, customers and anyone with an interest in Volkswagen can watch at close hand as Volkswagen’s luxury class comes into being and enjoy top-class gastronomy and an extensive range of cultural events. Indeed, this is where car manufacturing becomes an immediate communicative event; this is where innovative technology meets cultural vitality.
Come join us for a unique evening of food and beverage in a modern setting!  The factory is located 2.5 km from the Maritim hotel, near the “Großer Garten”, and can be reached easily by tram numbers 11 and 4 in approximately 30 minutes.  (A free tram ticket is included in the 5-Day technical registration.)

The Welcome Reception is kindly supported by the Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH.

One ticket for the Welcome Reception is included in all 5-Day technical registrations and the Companion Program registration.  All others may purchase a ticket to the Welcome Reception as an add-on to their registration.

  • An Adult Reception ticket price: 60-€ (70€ after July 20)
  • A Junior (age 8-17, inclusive) Reception ticket price: 30-€ (45€ after July 20)
  • Children under age 8 are free, but must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Situated in the heart of Dresden, amidst the most beautiful gardens directly bordering the Elbe River, The Westin Bellevue Dresden offers its guests the highest comfort.  Due to its exposed location, it presents the famous “Canaletto view” of Dresden’s skyline, which Bernardo Bellotto, the painter, once recorded for posterity in his pictures. The Bellevue Gardens and the terraces with their magnificent view of the Church of our Lady and Semper Opera invite one to stay for a while. The baroque quarter of “Königstraße” with its exclusive shops, galleries, and cafés is just a few meters walk from the hotel. The interior reflects the elegant style of the house. Fine materials, warm shades of wood and beige leather furniture lend stylish charm to the rooms. The Restaurant Canaletto is among the top destinations for connoisseurs in Dresden and attracts guests for its elegant ambience and its excellent service.  You can experience all of this if you attend the symposium Gala Dinner!

Please join us in one of the largest ballrooms in Dresden on Wednesday, August 19 in one of the most beautiful hotels in Dresden, with some of the prettiest views of Dresden’s famous baroque landmarks.  The Westin is an approximate 20 minute walk from the International Congress Center and Maritim host hotel, or a short taxi ride.

Highlights of the evening will be great entertainment, the traditional passing of the EMC Europe symposium banner, and a raffle drawing for a great prize!

The Gala Dinner is kindly supported by ETS-Lindgren.

  • One ticket for the Gala Dinner is included in all 5-Day technical registrations, EXCEPT student registrations.  All others may purchase a ticket to the Gala Dinner as an add-on to their registration.
